Nursery of the Month: Chloe

Pretty flowers, ballerinas, unicorns in tutus with shades of pink mixed in is the perfect combination for this month’s featured nursery.

Chloe’s timeless nursery is light, airy, and peaceful. Her parents wanted to create a space that wasn’t overly girly with lots of bright pinks, so they opted with shades of blush and white to complement their gray carpet. They also wanted to ensure that Chloe had a nursery that she could grow up with. Her changing table will turn into a dresser as she’s older and her bookshelf will soon fill up with more books and other toys.

And, if you can’t tell, Big Brother is quite excited about Chloe’s arrival.

What is your nursery’s theme?

“The nursery theme is bright and airy with soft blush accents and a touch of floral.”

What was the inspiration for your nursery design?

“We wanted to create a calming and ‘girly’ space without going overboard with pink. To accomplish this, we used blush instead of bright pink pieces mixing in decor items like unicorns and ballerinas all while keeping in mind that it should be a room that she can grow into and love.”

Did you utilize help from any professional designers?

“We did not use a professional designer, but I used Pinterest to get ideas.”

Did you have a particular budget in mind for your nursery?

“We did not have a specific budget but we wanted to keep the cost reasonable.”

On which items did you splurge vs. save?

“We splurged the most on the changing table that will eventually turn into her dresser. We saved on the side lamp, side table, and ottoman as those items came at a a great price from Target. Instead of buying an expensive shelving unit, we opted for a simple IKEA shelf with glass instead of wood shelves, which I ended up liking more.”

Did you experience any challenges with your nursery design?

“Because we were purchasing everything online during a pandemic, some items were backordered, out of stock or delayed getting to us.”

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your nursery?

“The flowers on the wall are individual decals that we purchased from a local family owned company. My husband worked tirelessly installing them one by one on a textured wall that made them more difficult to apply. In the end, we loved the result and did not regret skipping the wallpaper as we were able to get creative on the placement of each flower.”
