Summer and Willow were born at 34 weeks and 5 days gestation on January 11, 2023. They spent 17 days in the NICU before graduating and coming home to join their big brother, Hunter. I’ve photographed several sets of twins and even one set of triplets over the last several years. MMP members have been requesting a lifestyle newborn session with twins behind the scenes video, and now it’s here!
Want to watch the twin session behind the scenes?
In this BTS video, members of Membership for Motherhood Photographers will get to see how I wrap both babies, take family photos with an energetic 3-year-old who eventually told me, “I’m over it.” 😂, and take the babies’ individual photos at the end of the session. This is a lesson that all lifestyle newborn photographers need to watch!
Commonly Asked Questions About Twin Newborn Sessions
Do you charge extra?
Nope! one thing you could do is limit the number of images included in your session fee and upsell additional images. While taking photos of triplets or quadruplets (or more!) is a lot more work, a twin session isn’t too much different that a single baby session. Upselling images gives the parents the option to choose their photos while allowing you to make more money if they decide to purchase more. Want to know how to set up your online gallery for upselling? Stay tuned for March 2023’s MMP Masterclass!
Do you bring an assistant?
Not for a twin session, but I have photographed triplets and hired an assistant. She helped to wrap one of the babies while I wrapped two, and she was an extra set of hands to hold a baby while mom and dad were taking photos with one at a time.
Do you do posed photos on the beanbag with multiple babies?
I do not. For my sessions with multiples, I have the family book my Lifestyle Session as opposed to my Lifestyle + Posed Newborn Session. It takes extra safety training and practice to pose multiple babies on a beanbag together, which I haven’t done. I prefer to take the individual photos of the babies on a blanket on the floor. In the BTS video, you’ll see how I cushion the spot under the babies’ heads and keep their heads from falling to one side.
