In the Spring of 2014, Rachael and I found ourselves crying and praying together on the patio at Starbucks about God’s plan for her life. Would she ever get married? Would she find contentment in being single for this season of her life? What if that season was longer than she anticipated?
What brought her to this point? Let’s rewind a little bit.
It was the afternoon of December 7, 2013. My family and I were at a neighbor’s house to watch a little play that the neighborhood kids put together. I was sitting with Leslie, whom we met that October at a Halloween festival. Rachael walked in and sat right near us. She didn’t have kids yet. She wasn’t married yet. But she came because she loves Leslie’s kids.
That was the first time I met Rachael. And she invited me to her birthday party. Which was that night. That’s just the kind of person she is. I didn’t know a soul at the party. But I went anyway. And the next morning, my husband and I decided to visit the church that Leslie’s husband pastored, and Rachael and many of the party guests attended.
Back to that Starbucks patio. You see, Rachael had gone on a few casual dates with some nice guys lately, but she knew it wouldn’t turn into anything. She knew in her heart that she wanted to get married, but where was the man that she was praying for?
Call it chance. Or fate. Or serendipity. But we knew it was better. It was a divine plan. A month before our Starbucks date, she had briefly met Perry. She didn’t think anything of it until later that year. He had asked his friend for her phone number and gave her a call. And I guess, you could say, the rest is history!
I remember first meeting Perry on Halloween night, 2014. He was smitten with her. They were adorable together. But she was wondering if this was too good to be true.
They were married on June 20, 2015 and I was so blessed to serve as a bridesmaid. Their daughter Charlotte (Charley) joined them on July 15, 2016. She was born in the car, just like my daughter was. Don’t ask. Except do. Because I still can’t believe it happened to both of us!
Now she and Perry are expecting baby number two in just a couple short months. It’s a BOY!
Rachael and Perry, in the few short years that we’ve known each other, we can’t imagine ever not having you in our lives. We love and adore you so much and are so blessed to share this fun and crazy chapter with you. Here’s to life with two under 2!
xoxo,
