On the morning of February 20th, sweet little Jonathan Patrick joined his mama, daddy, big sis Amelia, and big bro Colton. It was a quick labor and delivery at Chandler Regional Hospital!
When I arrived at their home, Abbi and Jordan were so excited to shoot in their master bedroom. They moved into their home last June and have been working so hard to renovate and make it their own. When I saw the stunning, whitewashed headboard and white bedspread, I was in heaven!
Then we turned off the lights and I noticed how dark it was in the room. Because of the harsh Phoenix sun, it’s so common to have shade screens on the windows to help keep the heat out of homes. But dark shade screens also mean very little natural light…which is essential when shooting inside.
I told them I would do my best to make it work, knowing how important it was to utilize that stunning headboard for their images. If it’s important to the client, then it’s important to me!
As I was helping Abbi choose outfits for herself and the kids, I spied Jordan outside, with his power drill, removing the screens from the master bedroom window. I mean, if that doesn’t make you think you’ve hit the client jackpot then I don’t know what does!
As soon as the screens came off it was like the heavens parted and all the light in the world came flooding into that room. It was truly breathtaking!
When everyone was dressed and I got Jonathan all wrapped up, we began the session and everything went so smoothly! I got the baby with gorgeous eyes wide open, helped to shush him to sleep, grabbed photos with each of the kids, all kids together, the whole family…it couldn’t have gone any better.
Abbi and Jordan, thank you so much for welcoming me into your lovely home and trusting me with these priceless images. I just adore your family and I’m so honored to have been chosen to document this milestone for you! You have some awesome little helpers in your home! I pray that as you settle into a family of five that you enjoy every second of it!
xoxo,
Brenna
