Remember this gorgeous greenhouse maternity session? Well, I’m so thrilled to share Nolan’s in-home newborn session today! I could not get enough of his adventure-themed nursery. No detail was left undone. I know he will love this space as he grows up!
Nolan was born early in the morning on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Here is his birth story, written by his awesome mama:
“We found out we would be having Nolan a little early at our 38 week doctor’s appointment. We had been monitoring his growth over the last month and the ultrasound that day showed that, although he was growing, he was still measuring too small for 38 weeks. The doctors felt that it was better to get things started. We set up an appointment to be induced on Friday, May 18, at 2:00am (the only time they had available!).
We had a couple of days to wrap things up at work and at home and try to get some rest before the big day. We were nervous, but so excited that we would be meeting our baby in just a few days!
The morning that we were induced, driving to the hospital in the middle of the night was pretty surreal. It wasn’t quite how we pictured the moment but we were more ready than ever to meet our little one. It was a long day with a lot of ups and downs but we were grateful to have great nurses and an amazing doctor who reassured us as much as possible throughout the whole process.
Around midnight on Friday, our doctor decided it was best to change plans and deliver Nolan via c-section since he wasn’t tolerating the contractions well. Within minutes we were moved to the OR and it felt like we heard that first cry not too long after. It was such a relief to hear his cry and that he was perfectly healthy, just a little small at 5 pounds 13 ounces.
When we got to the recovery room I was able to hold Nolan for the first time and we had a few quiet hours just the three of us. It was the best feeling to hold him after such a long and emotional day!”
Jenn and Dylan, I absolutely adore you (and Nolan, too, of course!). I cannot thank you enough for letting me be a part of his story. I love seeing you two as parents; it’s a role that you’re so perfectly suited for. I wish you all the best on this new road. May your adventures and discoveries be greater than your wildest dreams.
xoxo,
Brenna
