Baby Axel’s Neutral Safari Nursery was the most stunning backdrop for his dreamy newborn session, and I am excited to feature it this month! I mean seriously insert all the heart eyes for this one! Baby Axel’s parents, Amber and Alan are the most beautiful people inside and out, and it was such a privilege spending the morning with their growing family (and the cutest pup, Bronx, of course). The nursery has the perfect neutral shades that complement each other so well, with the most adorable accent pieces. The wooden name blocks next to the baby booties have me ready to decorate another nursery!
Amber has shared more details on her vision for Baby Axel’s nursery, the decorating process, and has given us all the details below!
Nursery Details
What was the inspiration for your nursery design?
“Once we decided we wanted to start a family, we traveled as much as we possibly could in the year before trying. Our big “last hoorah” was a 2 week African safari in South Africa. It lived up to the hype and was by far our best adventure yet and will be nearly impossible to beat (although we won’t stop trying!). We decided to base the nursery theme on our trip and it allowed us to incorporate and display some beautiful animal photographs we took while there, as well.”
Did you utilize help from any professional designers?
“Not exactly. I always look for inspiration on Instagram and Pinterest and my husband often refers to me as a professional copier ;-)”
Did you have a particular budget in mind for your nursery?
Not necessarily but we wanted items that would be of quality and last. Keeping it fairly neutral gives me confidence that I can re-use pieces as he grows and even incorporate them into other areas of our home.
On which items did you splurge vs. save?
The area rug and the dresser were splurges, but so worth it!
Did you experience any challenges with your nursery design?
I initially wanted to use a neural safari themed wallpaper that had the “big 5” safari animals repeated on it. However, after realizing how much wallpaper can cost and the price to install, I chose a more neutral option that can grow with him.
