Lindsey Dutton Photography is this month’s featured BHP Star Student. I can’t wait to share more about her & her photography journey! Lindsey Dutton is the owner and lead photographer, and has been running her photography business since 2018. She serves mamas and babies from the newborn stage throughout their first year. Lindsey has a home studio in Dallas, TX. Newborn and 6-month milestone sessions are her absolute favorite. Her favorite part about being a Motherhood and Newborn Photographer is watching little ones and families grow. It’s not just a “job” for Lindsey. She truly loves forming friendships and watching families grow throughout the many stages of life.
About Lindsey
Lindsey grew up in San Diego, California before moving to Texas nine years ago. She has been married for 8 years and has 2 boys that she homeschools. Being a photographer typically comes with a flexible schedule, which makes it ideal to be able to spend more time with family. She’s extremely passionate about non-toxic living and clean eating for her family. During their free time, she loves being outdoors with her family.
I absolutely love Lindsey’s story on how she got into photography. Lindsey was not able to schedule her son’s 1-year photos, so took it upon herself to still do them anyways! When her son was born, she had gotten a “fancy” camera, but just always shot in Auto. She took it upon herself to watch videos and learn how to properly use her camera and shoot in manual mode. Ta-da! Her sweet baby boy had 1-year photos that will be cherished forever! After posting the adorable photos to Facebook (because, duh!), she had a few people reach out and ask who took his photos. When they realized it was Lindsey herself, she had people requesting to take photos for them, too! That’s what you call a natural!
The BHP Community
Fast forward just a bit, Lindsey joined the BHP Community, and we have been better ever since! She is a student in the Lifestyle + Posed Newborn Course and a member of Membership for Motherhood Photographers. Lindsey says that both have helped her tremendously in her business. She is a visual learner, so having access to watching behind-the-scenes was huge for her in the beginning (and still is!). In fact, Lindsey will go back into the course and membership lessons to rewatch some sessions from time to time for more posing ideas and a refresher.
She also LOVES the BHP online community. Having an encouraging and helpful Facebook group is amazing to turn to whenever she needs support! The photography journey can sometimes feel lonely since you’re most often a solopreneur, so having a community makes her feel like she is not alone in the photography journey! Another favorite part of the Membership is the monthly group-coaching calls. She loves having new topics discussed and also just having a fun chat with other photographers who are similar to her.
