We’re kicking off 2023 with our very own BHP Star Student, Ling Waters, owner and lead photographer of Ling Waters Photography! Ling is a Motherhood and lifestyle newborn photographer based in Dallas, Texas. She specializes in helping young mamas capture genuine moments that they will be able to cherish forever. Making a difference in her clients/families lives is what she enjoys most about being a photographer.
About Ling
Ling is a mother of three, a bonus mom to two teens, and wife to her best friend, Keith. They currently live in their new dream home that’s located in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas. They love spending time as a family and traveling together. Being the busy mom that Ling is, her days are always packed with activities for her kids! When she is not taking the kids to their activities, sheI enjoys cooking with my husband and says they are both total foodies and wine enthusiasts. Despite the busy schedule, Ling is a total homebody and enjoys watching Netflix and shopping on Amazon. Ling is a lover of all things organizational and is a total list maker. Planners, all the Papermate pens, and stickers make her SO happy!
Ling’s Photography Journey
It all started with an iPhone! For as long as Ling remembers, she has been capturing memories in photos. She finally picked up a camera and started taking pictures here and there in 2018, but it wasn’t until 2021 that she took her business official. Ling Waters Photography currently serves young families and specializes in family and all things motherhood. This includes maternity and lifestyle newborns. Last year, Ling discovered that she absolutely LOVES photographing lifestyle newborn sessions. The invitation she gets to step into a client’s home to photograph such a sweet new chapter in their lives with their precious newborn is so sentimental and special to her. She also loves that she is able to “stay at home” and still contribute to her family‘s income while also teaching my children they can be their own boss and have a successful business.
Prior to being a photographer, Ling was an elementary school teacher but recently quit her job to stay at home with my youngest child. Throughout this transition, she discovered that being away from the classroom brought a desire in her to be around young families with little ones. Rather than making a difference in her student’s lives, she is finding that she loves being a photographer because of the families and little kids that she is able to meet. The opportunity to play a smart part in their lives of capturing the fleeting moments is truly rewarding for Ling.
BHP Resources
Ling is a BHP Student in both the Mini Session Course and our Lifestyle + Posed Newborn Course. Ling says both courses have been so beneficial in helping her plan and prepare for her client’s sessions. Being in the photography industry and working alone can oftentimes be scary, but these courses have allowed Ling to be fully confident in her processes, abilities and ultimately herself.
We couldn’t imagine our BHP Community without Ling! She brings so much enthusiasm to the community, and her photography work is absolutely breathtaking!
