Four Ways to Up-sell Clients After Their Mini Session

Offering mini sessions as a photographer is a quick way to make extra income throughout the year and potential slow seasons of your photography business. However, if you aren’t giving your clients the opportunity to add-on items after their mini session, you’re losing additional income. Today I’m going to share with you four ways to up-sell clients after their mini session!

Four Ways to Up-sell Clients After Their Mini Session

One: Offer Additional Images

This is one of the most popular and obvious ways to up-sell your clients after their session. Remember mini sessions aren’t meant for you to deliver traditional full galleries. Offering your clients 3-5 images is usually the number of images offered. If they wish to purchase additional images from the gallery, they most definitely can and this is where your up-sell comes into play.

Now, here’s one important thing to note. Clients will happily pay for additional images! But don’t sell your work short by offering additional prints for $5 each. I usually recommend offering additional prints at at least $30 each, or you can bundle images into packages! I teach exactly how to price your mini sessions and up-sell in my mini sessions course.

Two: Offer Album Creation

A personal favorite up-sell of mine is offering my clients album creation. Offering album creation guarantees your clients will have a way to display all their favorite images within in their home. They are treasured heirlooms that make great coffee table books. Plus, you guarantee high-quality printing. High-quality albums usually start at $150.

I actually share an in-depth lesson about album creation in my Membership for Motherhood Photographers.

Three: Offer Prints, Wall Art & Greeting Cards

By offering prints, wall art, and greeting cards that your clients can easily purchase from the backend of their gallery link is another way to generate passive income. Let clients know when you deliver their galleries about all the options they have from the backend of their galleries. I use the Store feature inside my Pixieset client galleries for easy ordering and fulfillment.

Four: Offer Discounts Throughout the Year

Even after you’ve delivered your client galleries and time has passed, you can still offer your clients exclusive discounts around certain times of the year. For example, Black Friday and Christmas discounts are a great way to generate passive income. You never know if your clients still have gifts they need to give their families and providing them with the opportunity to purchase additional prints, canvases, calendars, etc. again may play in your favor. Plus, it allows you to stay on your clients’ radar for when they need professional images again.
