5 Things to Know Before Your Maternity Session

You’ve booked a maternity session and you are feeling a little anxious about what to expect. Well, I’m here to let you in on five things to know before your maternity session.

Go Ahead and Pamper Yourself

You deserve some R&R before your little one arrives so if you’re someone who needs permission to spoil herself, I’m giving you the green light! Schedule a hair appointment and a mani/pedi before your maternity session. Take the time for you. Life as you know it is about to get a little more chaotic, of course, in the greatest way. BUT it’s nice to have a moment to fully relax before your new little one makes his/her debut. What better way to relax than a good ol’ fashion mani/pedi?

Don’t Feel Obligated to Wear Pink or Blue

Maternity pictures don’t have to showcase the gender of your little one. And, to be honest, if you don’t like wearing pink or blue, you definitely do not need to feel like you HAVE to so. Off-whites, light greens, and yellows make great options for maternity session outfits! I also see mamas-to-be opt for floral patterned dresses, which I loooooove.

One thing I love offering my clients is access to my Client Closet. The reason is because it has styles of dresses that flatter all mamas-to-be and also offers dresses outside of your traditional pink or blue. One of my favorite online shops for dresses is Baltic Born. Use this coupon to save 15%!

Include Your Firstborn for One or Two Pictures

If this isn’t your first go-round, I always love having siblings in a couple of pictures with you. Chances are you’ve been preparing them for their new role and they are just as excited as you are to meet their sibling. It’s nice to include them in every little thing you can prior to baby’s arrival – your maternity pictures are one area you can have them feel special.

You’ll Always Remember this Season

You may know that I have two kiddos of my own and I know that as your due date gets closer you may become eager to meet your little one. However, I can assure you that once they are here you’ll miss those little kicks and flutters. It’s a sweet season of life that you’ll always remember and smile back on even if you had morning sickness, etc. Documenting your pregnancy with a maternity session will help you remember all the feelings!

You TRULY are Beautiful

One of the most important things you need to remember – You TRULY are beautiful! You may only notice your swollen feet or new stretch marks, but know this isn’t what others see. You are beautiful, Mama! Pregnancy glow is definitely a thing even if you aren’t feeling it. And, if you aren’t feeling all that pretty during your pregnancy, I can guarantee that when you get your maternity session images back, you’ll see your beauty.
