Amy & Jordan Demos Family Lifestyle Session

If you are a photographer then you MUST know about Amy and Jordan Demos. I mean, they’re basically royalty, am I right?! They live in Tennessee now, but just a few weeks before they moved, I had the immense pleasure of taking family photos for them in February 2021.

To say this was a huge honor and one of the highlights of my career is an understatement, to say the least. As a photographer, having other photographers choose you to take their photos is HUGE. But when Amy & Jordan Demos want you to take their family photos….hold the phone, let me catch my breath, did I believe what I just heard…were all things that happened to me in that moment!

“How did this session come to be?” you may be asking. Let’s take a little trip down memory lane, shall we?

2013-2015

When I started my photography business in 2013, Amy & Jordan were in the thick of building their luxury wedding photography business while also teaching elementary school full time. If you’re a photographer, again, you definitely know their story. I hadn’t yet heard about them though.

In June 2015, I was still pretty new to photography, figuring out my style, and was also an 8-months-pregnant bridesmaid in my friend Rachael’s wedding. Rachael was a wedding planner and had gotten to know Amy and Jordan really well through that industry. A&J also just so happened to be Rachael’s wedding photographers (see the amazing images here).

At that time, I was heavily involved with the pageant systems in Arizona (I’m a former Miss Arizona USA and coached contestants for 10+ years), doing hair, makeup, and headshot photography for pageant girls. I had also dabbled in doing makeup for brides for a little while, so I offered to do Rachael’s wedding makeup for her. Seeing Amy & Jordan in action the day of the wedding, how fun they were to work with, and how well they love and serve their brides was all so wonderful.

2016-2018

In 2016 when Amy & Jordan released their Shooting & Editing Course, guess who was one of the OG students? Yup. Moi! (That’s “me” in French, btw :-))

And when they were filming for their Posing Course in 2017 and they asked my little family to be the models for the behind-the-scenes video….ummmm bucket list moment! Who was also an OG Posing Course student? Yup. Moi!

Then when the Business Course was released in 2018, who do you think was front row and center when registration opened? You guessed it. Moi! I’m part of the lucky ones that are known as the AJ Trifecta students.

Over the course of those years, seeing them at Rachael & Perry’s kids’ birthday parties, having them refer clients to me (WHAT?! Really?? Yes!), and having deep, meaningful conversations about faith, home educating our kids, and so much more, I am so incredibly thankful for how these two have not only impacted my business but my entire life.

2020-present

When their daughter Emily was born in 2020, I offered to do their newborn photos for them, knowing that they likely already had another friend lined up (they did but I still wanted to offer). A year later, when they announced their move to Nashville, Amy reached out and asked if I would want to photograph them in their home before they left Scottsdale. Ummmm YES!

We shot in each of the kids’ rooms, just being themselves and doing what they love: reading, trains, jumping on the bed, hide and seek, red light green light, you name it. Then we made our way downstairs to the main bedroom for more snuggle time and tickle fights.

Amy & Jordan, how can I even begin to express how grateful I am for your friendship, your kindness, your generosity, your encouragement, your education, your love for your kids, and your positive impact on the photography community. So many of us have been touched by what you do and how you serve others. I know you love Nashville but you’re welcome back to Scottsdale any time 😉

xoxo,
Brenna
