Pros and Cons of Offering Multiple Packages
There are pros and cons of offering multiple packages to your clients. First, let’s talk about the pros. By offering multiple packages, this is giving your clients more choices to choose from. That may be the number of images included, price, or multiple services or products included. However, with offering this type of experience, it could actually be quite overwhelming for your clients to have to make the choice. For the photographer, this ends up being the same amount of work for little pay! By overworking yourself for the same or less pay, you may end up experiencing major burnout.
Why You Should Offer Just One Photography Package
Furthermore, let’s discuss why you should offer just one package for your clients. It’s really simple. Fewer choices means less confusion! This ultimately serves your clients better and up levels your overall client experience. If you are always booking your one package, you will be able to work less and make more money! This is the goal, right?! Stop booking your least expensive package time and time again by removing it all together and only offering one package option to your clients!
How to Calculate Your One Package Price
Now you may think this sounds great, but how in the world do you determine what that one package includes and how to price yourself? I’ve got you, friend! The first step is determining your cost of doing business (CODB). This includes your expenses to operate your business and serve your clients. Next, decide your ideal income/profit. What do you want to bring home each month/year? Finally, decide how many sessions per week, month, or year you are willing to do. Once you have answered these three questions, it’s time to pull out your photography business calculator! To determine your one package price, fill in the equation below:
[Desired income/profit] + [expenses] / [sessions per year] = session fee
Tips for Communicating Your New Photography Pricing
Surprise! You don’t actually have to announce your new pricing or business model. If you’re curious on when and how to raise your prices, check out another blog post here! My suggestion is to send an email to your VIP client list announcing the change since these are your exclusive clients who have worked with you before. If you don’t already have an email list, read why you need an email list here! I also have an Email Marketing Masterclass inside the Membership for Motherhood Photographers resources! If you have inquiries who haven’t booked their session yet, be sure to get in touch and inform them of your new changes as well.
Offering just one package for your photography services can bring a multitude of benefits. Not only will it make life a lot easier for you in the long-term, but it will also bring more revenue to your business.
