This month’s Star Student is Makenzie, owner of Makenzie Fertig Photography. Makenzie has been a nurse for over eight years and always have had a love for photography. She loves serving others and loves the special meaning photos have. One of Makenzie’s most cherished possessions is a photo album made by her grandmother. She loves that it holds so many memories and tells her family’s story. This is Makenzie’s own hope for her photography business… to provide these memories and photos that tell a story!
About Makenzie Fertig Photography
Makenzie Fertig Photography is based in Houston, Texas. She absolutely loves motherhood photography, especially newborn lifestyle sessions and capturing families at home with their new additions! Makenzie says motherhood is so beautiful and loves capturing that season for mamas to be. Maternity sessions are also a favorite. In addition, Makenzie enjoys the flexibility of having her own photography business and being able to create her own schedule.
Makenzie is a Texas girl born and raised. Before photography, Makenzie was a nurse who took care of postpartum moms and their new babies. This is where her love for newborns really flourished and made sense for the direction of her photography business. Makenzie and her husband live in a small town where they bought a fixer upper. She loves being able to design and create a new home just for them. Outside of life with her husband and photography, Makenzie loves running, traveling, cooking new recipes, spending time outdoors, and their church home. She also loves hiking in National Parks and hopes to visit them all one day!

I love the Lifestyle + Posed Newborn Course. It was so helpful in a sometimes daunting session type. The lessons gave me a blueprint of how to create the best newborn sessions for my clients. It gave me confidence going in to each newborn session and allowed me to have better success with creating beautiful images. The course covered everything from posing, to swaddling babies, working with big siblings, and editing. It helped me capture my clients in the best lighting possible and know that I had a plan before arriving at my client’s home.
I love this course so much and it is also a helpful reference to look back on! It really improved my posing and helping with creating the best relaxed poses. I also love all the bonus material that comes with the course. Brenna shows you some of the exact documents she uses to track potential clients. I love how active Brenna is in the private online community! It is so great being in community with others who are wanting to improve their business and encourage others.
